“Since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.” (Luke 1:3-4)

Luke was a physician, and as a detail-oriented person, he wanted to do extensive research on the life of Jesus.  The Lord wants us to know that his word, the Bible, contains his truth, and it can be trusted in all that it declares. The Gospels are not a collection of religious fairy tales. They are the source of eternal truth—God’s revelation of himself and how we can have an intimate relationship with Him.

While the other Gospels on Jesus’ life serve great purposes, we can look at the Gospel of Luke as a source which was so thoroughly investigated, that it helps to answer a great number of questions for those who are searching for the truth, and reinforces the beliefs of those who already know the Lord.  This is just another reason that we can rely on the word of God.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I am thankful for those whom you inspired to verify your life and your teachings.  Your word has and will continue to answer so many of the questions we have regarding our faith and increases our confidence in you.  You enable us to erase any doubts in our hearts and minds concerning the love you have for all of us.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
