And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior, for he has regarded the lowly state of his maidservant.  For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed, for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.” (Luke 1:46-49)

Mary’s prayer, historically called the Magnificat, the Latin word from the prayer’s opening, “My soul magnifies.” This was so true with Mary, but it can also apply to us.  God replaces our brokenness and emptiness with his presence, which is what we need the most.  We can make it a habit of praising God when he gives us what we need, and soon we discover how truly blessed we are.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I praise your holy name because you supply all of my needs.  I am no longer in constant “want” of “things” because you are always with me.  Thank you for your presence in my life.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
