“And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.” (Luke 2:40)

Jesus had to grow, just like every other human child. He became strong in spirit and filled with wisdom because he grew up in the grace of God. The Lord’s lovingkindness is what makes us both strong and wise.

We have the opportunity to grow strong and wise throughout our days.  We can be open to new insight the Lord gives us in our daily walk with him, through prayer and the reading, studying, and meditating on his word.  Our experiences will also teach us much about ourselves, others, and the world around us.  God’s teaches us to ask ourselves, “what can I do to enhance and improve my relationship with others?” The opportunities are limitless.

Despite any failures in the past, we can have great hope for the future.  I have to agree with Peter, who tells us in 1 Peter 4:8, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

Prayer: Dear Lord, you have made us in your image.  Help us to project that image every day, because your love never fails.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
