“Train yourself in godliness, for, while physical training is of some value, godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” (1 Timothy 4:7-8)

Our self-care is important.  I have always felt that I need to take care of myself if I want to take care of others.  Self-care is part of what should dictate our lifestyle.  Paul brings this up in relation to our spiritual health.  This also requires some discipline, including prayer, reading, studying, and meditating on God’s word.  The thing that makes it complete is when we apply this to our lives.  We can have all the knowledge in the world, but if we don’t live out our faith, knowledge is of little value.

We should set a good example.  We can show others that when we claim the name of Jesus, our way of life is one that people can relate to, having peace within and allowing love to be the ruling factor in all of our relationships.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for setting the example for all of us.  Help us to abide in you, so that we do not stray from your teachings.  Remind us to minister to others, meeting their needs, and doing everything out of love.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
