“People were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them, and when the disciples saw it, they sternly ordered them not to do it.  But Jesus called for them and said, “Let the children come to me, and do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.  Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.” (Luke 18:15-17)

     Children had the tendency to move toward Jesus.  There was something about him that told them he could be trusted and would have something positive to say to them, giving them hope.  He would even encourage them to smile and laugh about something funny.  Being around Jesus was something they looked forward to.

     When we get a bit older, it is unfortunate if we develop a cynical attitude.  If we lose that childlike innocence, it is harder to develop faith.  If we have forgotten or set aside our claim to faith in Jesus, why not get back to it?  We all need Jesus, and it’s not too late!

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to recall how wonderful it was when I first heard about you as a child.  I ask if I can rely on your goodness once again and experience the joy of putting my faith in you.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
