“A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.” (Luke 9:35)

An event occurred during Jesus’ ministry which verified his identity as the Son of God.  Earlier, Peter proclaimed that Jesus was “God’s Messiah,” but now this was affirmed by God himself when Jesus revealed his divine figure on a mountain to Peter, James, and John, which we refer to as the Transfiguration.  Jesus truly displayed God’s glory.

When have you caught a glimpse of how beautiful and mighty God is and are reminded of his glory?  It could be in the magnificence of a sunrise; the promise of a new day in God’s creation.  It could be in the birth of a baby; a new life entering the world.  How could anyone not believe in God when we see new life?  It could be in the warmth and smiles of people who have God’s love within them.  When people see this, we can see beyond the troubles of the world and know that there is a living God who dwells among us.  Nothing can separate us from the love of God!

Prayer: Dear Lord, you have made yourself known to the world and have given us the opportunity to invite you into our lives.  It is an awesome privilege to know your glory, which we experience each day.  Thank you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
