“As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.” (Luke 9:51)

Luke emphasized that Jesus knew what awaited him in Jerusalem, and there was no turning back.  He confronted his fate on the cross with great courage.

We can be comforted based upon Jesus’ determination to accomplish our redemption.  He knew of how his ministry on earth would end, but his mission would continue, living on in the lives of his disciples and all of the generations which would follow.  God’s plans are still in the works, and he seeks out all of us, asking us to follow him and to establish a new beginning, recipients of the great love God has for us.  Thanks be to God, whose faithfulness continues today, tomorrow, and forever!

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for what you have done for us.  Your love for us is evident, and I pray for those who still need you, because I know that they are missing out on the greatest gift anyone could receive.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
