“Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.” (Luke 11:4a)

     We often ask God to forgive us of our sins, but in his prayer, Jesus shows us that not only should we ask God to forgive us, but also to empower us to forgive those who have sinned against us.  We need to remind ourselves of God’s forgiveness toward us, because this helps us to soften our hearts during those times when it is hard to forgive others.  This is a very basic but essential prayer request, and it is something we can always use from day-to-day.

Prayer: Dear Lord, the power of forgiveness is in our hands, because we are well aware of how you forgive us.  Thank you for the gift of forgiveness and how powerful it is when we forgive others.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
