“As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.” He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” (Luke 11:27-28)

Jesus casts out a demon and is praised for his works, but rather than commending himself, he commends those who follow him instead.  Jesus has authority over all things, and yet he shares his glory with those who “hear the word of God and obey it.”

As we listen to God and obey him, we can do as Jesus did.  Take the focus off of ourselves, seeking wisdom and strength from our Lord and giving him credit.  Jesus took on the nature of a servant, and we can do the same.  The world will know the power and glory of our Lord, who works through us as we seek to do his will.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I pray that I will glorify and magnify you, always giving you all of the credit. Your name is wonderful.  Amen.
