“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I shall come out like gold. My foot has held fast to his steps; I have kept his way and have not turned aside.” (Job 23:10-11)

While being tested, Job knew that despite the obvious misfortunes and tragedies which occurred, God still had a handle on his life, and it was for good.  He was confident that he would get through his current circumstances.

We are likely to be tested, and most of the time we certainly don’t enjoy going through the testing!  But somehow, if our faith is intact, we know that God is with us, he will see us through, and we will end up stronger in our faith and learn from any mistakes we have made.

I have a problem with counting things like death and other tragedies as something that happens for good.  Nothing hurts more than when we lose a loved one or have our lives severely disrupted because of anything that is out of our control.  These things are a product of the world we live in, and I refuse to blame God.  We know that bad things happen, but when we keep our faith in God and give him credit for his goodness and mercy, this will matter very much. “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.” (Psalm 23:6)

Prayer: Dear Lord, by now I realize that life is tough, but I must thank you for easing my burden.  I can seek refuge when I trust in you, and you help me to face the world with your strength and courage.  I know that you are always with me.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
