“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” (Psalm 4:8)

David wrote this psalm during a time of great distress—possibly while Saul was pursuing him.  The stress could have caused David to be restless and wakeful, yet he was able to sleep well because he knew the Lord would keep him safe. God wants us to feel the same way, and when we abide in Christ, we can also have that confidence and peace, including times when we face high amounts of stress.  We can trust in the Lord at all times.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I am reminded of how I can give my troubles to you.  I can share them with you and know that you are watching over me.  Thank you for giving me peace and rest.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
