“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” (John 17:17)

On the eve of going to the cross, Jesus prayed for his disciples.  He prayed for them to be sanctified, to be set apart for God’s holy purposes.  The truth of God’s word would be the means of this transformation.

While the world espouses its own version of truth which leads to moral confusion and self-centered philosophies, scripture does not only give us helpful advice or great inspiration, but it also changes our minds and purifies our hearts, aligning us with God’s will.

Sanctification is an ongoing process in which we are open to having God work in our lives.  It is good for us to continue looking at scripture, meditating on it, praying, and obeying.  We are being refined with the Holy Spirit, making us more like Christ.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I praise you as you continue to work in my life.  I pray that I can be obedient to you, and that I recognize new things in my journey with you.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
