Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24)
How true it is that God knows our thoughts. We can ask him to reveal to us the things that we truly desire; the things that motivate us. Are they aligned with the values we know of and read about in scripture? Are our desires and motives well with our soul? If not, what can be done to set us straight?
It is hard to kick an old habit and change our way of thinking. There are two things I ask myself: (1) Am I serving as a good witness for Christ in all that I think, say, and do? (2) Am I willing to have God lead me into becoming the person I was intended to be? If we openly allow him to lead us, we will not regret it, and we will wonder why we were not as open to change a long time ago. Accept the grace of God and know that he is very patient with us!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to accept your grace and lead me in your path of righteousness. I know that with you, nothing is impossible. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
