“At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” (Luke 4:42-43)
Like many other times, Jesus found a solitary place. He went on a rhythm of going from intense ministry with people to profound times of quiet and solitude. In order to minister to people, we need times of serving others and times of rest, just like Jesus did. We might struggle at times, finding the right balance of work and rest, but with God as our guide, he will indicate to us that it is appropriate for us to have a time of work, and a time of rest. May God give us rest and equip us to carry on his work.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for being the example for us and helping us to find the right balance in our lives. Help us to get the appropriate rest and give us strength and energy as we seek to do your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
