“While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him.” (Luke 5:12-13)

The man who saw Jesus “fell with his face to the ground.” He knew of Jesus’ authority not only over his disease but over his entire being.  Having this deep level of respect for God means we recognize him as “big” and ourselves little by comparison.  We know that he can do great things, much of which we are not capable of ourselves.  Our lives can be made complete through the power of the one who supplies all of our needs.  We can bring everything to God in prayer, giving us the ultimate peace and security.

Prayer: Dear Lord, you know of my struggles, and I lay them all before you, knowing that you will provide an answer.  Thank you for giving me all that I need, and even more.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
