“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13)

     Memorial Day is a time of reflection for those who paid such a big price for our freedom.  Everyone who took this risk deserves to be honored and respected.  Give thanks today for all of those we honor.

     Laying down our life can also come in the form of giving of our time and resources for our family, friends, and any of our neighbors.  When we think outside of ourselves, God honors this commitment.  “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)

Prayer: Dear Lord, I am thankful for all those who have laid down their lives for our freedom and keep me mindful of how we should have the heart to serve you by serving others.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
