“My accusers did not find me arguing with anyone at the temple, or stirring up a crowd in the synagogues or anywhere else in the city. And they cannot prove to you the charges they are now making against me. However, I admit that I worship the God of our ancestors as a follower of the Way, which they call a sect. I believe everything that is in accordance with the Law and that is written in the Prophets, and I have the same hope in God as these men themselves have, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked. So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man.” (Acts 24:12-16)
Once again, Paul shares his story, yet he finds himself in trouble and ends up in prison for two years during a most prolific time in his ministry. This appeared to be the worst time for him to be inactive. Unlike when Peter was arrested or when Paul was imprisoned with Silas, there was no miracle that released him. But God had not forgotten Paul. His difficult circumstances had actually paved the way for his mission to Rome.
In every season and every place, God is working through us. As long as we are here, we are called to share our stories with the people in front of us. If we are faithful to God, regardless of where he takes us, we will eventually see the fruits of our labor.
Prayer: Dear Lord, we trust you with our future. Keep us encouraged and remind us to share the story of our faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
