“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house.  At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized. The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole household.” (Acts 16:31-34)

The jailer that was on duty when the chains were miraculously broken and the prison doors were opened feared for his life, thinking that he would be blamed for the escape of the prisoners.  Paul assured him that they weren’t going anywhere.  In fact, Paul and Silas stayed right there and spoke of the saving power of Jesus.

This man could see God at work in this situation and learned how he could receive salvation through the Lord.  It was more than enough to make a believer out of him!  There are many ways God can use our own stories of how God has been at work in our lives.  We can use those stories to let others know the saving power of Jesus, and we can also tell them in clear and understandable terms how the Lord can do the same for them.

Prayer: Dear Lord, we know of the great things you have done for us.  We know that we should not keep this to ourselves, but to let the world know of how you can change lives and give eternal peace and security.  Give us the words to say as we share this with others.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
