“All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.” (Acts 4:32-35)
The believers in the early church were “running on all cylinders.” They gathered together in prayer. They would not remain silent in their testimony regarding the saving power of Christ, knowing that this would supply the spiritual needs of others. They gave generously to provide to the needy.
This serves as a good model for us to follow up to this day. The world may tell us to put emphasis on ourselves, but we know better. Life in Christ is much more fulfilling when we take on a servant attitude.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for making our lives complete. Help us to disregard the teachings of those who would lead us astray. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
