“Then the whole assembly rose and led him off to Pilate.  And they began to accuse him, saying, “We have found this man subverting our nation. He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar and claims to be Messiah, a king.” So Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied.” (Luke 23:1-3)

Despite false accusations and denials, people knew that Jesus was a king—not an earthly king, but the one who dwelt among us, fulfilling the law and the prophets.  Jesus is the one who understands the weaknesses of the human condition, but if we submit ourselves to him as our Lord and Savior, we can embark on a new way of life.  This new way of life can bring us fulfillment because we learn to love God and to love one another.  Even though we are likely to face some hardships, disappointments, and sorrow, we have a peace within which will carry us through.

Be a part of God’s kingdom.  All are welcome.  We can say without a doubt that Jesus is King!

Prayer: Dear Lord, help those who are seeking.  Help them to understand and accept your simple yet profound message.  Give them the joy in their hearts that all of your people experience.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
