Devotion for August 21 

“Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.” (Luke 23:46)

     Jesus completed his earthly ministry, and he was ready to commit his spirit.  Everything he did and continues to do has a huge impact on humanity.  This is a vivid reminder of the need for us to put our ultimate trust in God in all circumstances.

     Whatever is troubling us, we can “give it to God.” I need to remind myself of this daily, and when I do, there is a great amount of relief and peace within.  Stress is a part of our daily life, and it is unavoidable, but when we trust in God, it is possible to lower the stress significantly.  Let’s continue to put our trust in God.

Prayer: Dear Lord, in a hurried and stressful world, we can look to you for strength and peace within.  Thank you for being the one we can always rely on.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
