“He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” (Luke 24:44)
Jesus affirmed the teachings of the Old Testament. Everything was written “about me,” according to Jesus. The Old Testament cannot not be ignored, because everything that was taught would lead up to the time when Jesus would walk among us. Not everybody would recognize him as the Son of God, but let’s not forget Genesis 1:27, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
This can be a challenge to us, because if we are made in the image of God, we ought to be displaying that image, not in a self-righteous way, but in an unassuming way. We can take on the joy that God puts in our hearts simply by living out the joy of our salvation through our thoughts, words, and actions. Let’s not take for granted this gift of life we have received.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to be more like you, and help those who are searching to see you at work in the lives of all who have put their faith in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
