“Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve.  And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus.” (Luke 22:3-4)

     This language of “entering” is used elsewhere in the New Testament for demonic possession, so something more than Judas’ own personal motivations is going on, but Judas is not free from guilt over this matter. 

     Satan works through those who are most vulnerable.  Judas’ intentions were not good from the start, so here was an opportunity for Satan to take full control.  Jesus tells us in Matthew 26:41, “The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

     When it comes to human decision-making, there is a relationship between the physical and spiritual world, but we have God on our side, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)
“But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.” (1 Timothy 6:11) We can have victory through Jesus!

Prayer: Dear Lord, there are so many temptations in this world.  Your word says that we should flee from this.  I trust you to keep me safe and secure from the works of Satan, and prompt me to take the appropriate actions whenever I am tempted.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
