“Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.  Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.” (Luke 22:7-8)

     This day was formally recognized, remembering when the Passover lamb was sacrificed, but something new was about to happen.  Jesus would be the sacrificial lamb for us from that time going forward.  Preparations were made as Jesus describes why this would happen, as he established a New Covenant.

     Now we can celebrate the Passover through Holy Communion.  This is something we approach with sincerity, confessing our sins, receiving forgiveness, and committing ourselves before God.  I like to describe this as a “renewal in Spirit.” This renewal is good for us to have, considering how much trouble the world brings.  We need encouragement, peace, and strength from the one source we can truly rely on, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Prayer: Dear Lord, the plans you made for your creation never cease to amaze me.  Thank you for renewing us as we approach your throne of grace each day.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
