“Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable; it keeps no record of wrongs.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-5)
One of the biggest virtues of a genuine love is selflessness. We are not out for ourselves, not getting upset when something doesn’t go our way, and not holding a grudge against anyone. Possessing a love like this does not always come naturally; it takes the Spirit of God within to get us thinking in a different way, but this is all part of God’s plans. When we think of others and treat them the way we would want to be treated, (Golden Rule) this frees us up to love in the same way God loves us. We can always use more of that kind of love in our world!
Prayer: Dear Lord, you have shown me the way of genuine love, to think of others and to consider their feelings. Thank you for your help in changing my attitude. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
