“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35)

Love is what defines us as Christians.  We consider the love God has for us, and we know how he has changed us into people who can love one another unconditionally.  It’s not always easy; we do not always “feel” that love, but it never goes away, because love is a commitment, and we strive to honor that commitment.

Today is Valentine’s Day, and primarily we think of love in a romantic sense, which is great, but we are given the opportunity to possess love which extends far beyond that.  We can have the love of God within, and people will know this when we live out a faith which leaves no doubt as to what defines us.

Prayer: Dear Lord, search my heart, and help me to never forsake love for others.  You will never forsake us, and you have given us the ability to do the same for everyone.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

In Christ’s love and Happy Valentine’s Day,

Pastor Dave
