“Take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication.” (Ephesians 6:16-18)

When dealing with all of our problems, it is good to know that when we have faith, we have a support system that is second to none.  It was designed that way because our all-knowing God could see the battles which we could potentially face.  Our faith helps us to cope.  We don’t have to escape from reality, but we can find refuge in the Lord.  We can draw strength and endurance from the Lord when we just take the time to pray over all that is going on in our lives and in our world.

The Gospels record numerous times when Jesus withdrew to pray.  “When Jesus realized that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, he withdrew again to the mountain by himself.” (John 6:15) It was essential, especially considering the mounting pressures which were upon him.  It is essential for us, too.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I am so thankful for the opportunity to bring my thoughts and prayers to you.  You are my shield and strength; you are my salvation.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
