“Above all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8)
This reminds me of someone saying, “I love you, but I don’t always like you.” Our relationships will often hinge on that concept. We may not always like everything about our family, friends, etc., but it shouldn’t take away our love for them. We can’t all be exactly the same in our basic personality, which, in turn, results in what we do and what we say.
God’s love teaches us to see beyond our differences, being willing to accept those differences. God’s love teaches us to see how each of us are so precious in his sight, how each of us fit into a particular role for the advancement of God’s kingdom. God’s love teaches us the value of forgiveness, knowing that despite our shortcomings, he will never leave us. We can do the same in support of each other.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your never-failing love and forgiveness, and teach me to follow in your footsteps by doing the same for others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
