“To the angel of the church in Thyatira write:

These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze.  I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first.” (Revelation 2:18-19)

The church in Thyatira was similar to the church in Pergamum, because they had their share of good intentions, but their beliefs were compromised when they became comfortable with those who promoted immoral and ungodly behavior.  The challenge for them to overcome this was to faithfully hold to the teachings of Jesus.  If the church can do that, they can be truly victorious people. “Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.” (Revelation 2:23) It is worth it to persevere in this battle against the works of darkness.

Prayer: Dear Lord, give us the knowledge, wisdom, and fortitude to learn from your teachings and stay on the path which leads to everlasting life.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
