“I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.” (Revelation 1:9)
John was exiled to the island of Patmos because of his loyalty to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ. During this time, he received a vision from heaven to share with his readers. God used him during this time, because the vision of Revelation is intended to transform his people so that they will live faithfully in a fallen world until Jesus returns.
John did not anticipate being put in this position, but he willing accepted the role of writing down what he is told in this vision, and we are blessed because of this. We may not always anticipate being put in the position we are in during various times in our lives, but we can be sure that at all times, God can use us for his honor and glory.
Prayer: Dear Lord, in all that we do, help us to be a blessing to the people in our lives. Thank you for being with us and providing for us at all times, even when we are put in situations that we do not expect. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
