“Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail.  But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” (Acts 5:38-39)

A Pharisee named Gamaliel addressed the Sanhedrin and warned them of how futile it was to arrest the apostles, keep them in jail, and to determine what their punishment should be.  God had a definitive purpose for them, and because it was God’s will that they should continue, there was no way it could be stopped.

God’s purpose continues.  People need the Lord.  We don’t need to be coercive in our witness, and it’s much better if we aren’t.  Just tell people what Jesus has done for you, and with patience on our part, God will work on their hearts and minds, welcoming them into his fold.

Prayer: Dear Lord, your purpose continues because we know how important it is for the entire world.  We pray that the world will know that everything good comes from you, and your kingdom lasts forever.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
