“Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem.  As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.  He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” (Acts 9:1-4)

     The voice speaking to Saul was the voice of Jesus.  This was a much-needed and very dramatic wake-up call, and Saul would respond to this call.

     Have you ever needed a wake-up call of this nature?  Some of us have needed it and some of us haven’t, but even a lesser warning can serve to do us good.  The Lord wants us to live an abundant life, and when we are headed down the wrong path, we can get some strong indications that we need to go a different direction.  Praise God for helping us to see clearly that when we follow him and seek to do his will, we have made a very good and wise decision.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for giving me a wake-up call at the time it was needed.  Help those who are still lost without you, because you give us the peace within which the world cannot take away.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
