“Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” (Acts 2:36-39)

     Peter’s bold address to the Israelites was one which did not hold back regarding the truth of how they rejected the Messiah, but he did not say this without offering them hope—hope for forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and the gift of the Holy Spirit.

     The same message is true for everyone today.  We can point out how sin is prevalent in our world, but also to offer everyone hope.  For everyone and everywhere, we are asked to call on the name of the Lord.

Prayer: Dear Lord, we ask for boldness in our witness for you, and to always offer hope.  We know that if we humble ourselves before you, we are granted this eternal hope.  Thank you for the love you have for your creation.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
