Upon knowing that her cousin Elizabeth would also be blessed with a son who would play a significant role leading up to Jesus’ ministry, Mary paid her a visit. Both women expressed joy over the upcoming miracle births which would take place, and Elizabeth addresses a couple of specific praises regarding Mary’s situation:
“Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” (Luke 1:42, 45)
From the start of Luke’s narrative, God is a miracle-working, prayer answering God. We may think God has stopped doing miracles well before our time. However, if we recall all that’s happened in our lives because of God’s grace, we might reconsider.
As we reflect on our life with the Lord, what would you consider a “miracle”? I often think of people who have entered my life and influenced me in a very positive way, and I doubt that it’s just a coincidence. God will often put people in our life at just the right time and place, helping to shape our future. God’s active role in our lives encourages us to proclaim his miracles to this very day!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I cannot deny the miracles which have taken place in my life. I give you the utmost praise for your active role in our lives! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
