“While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was greatly distressed to see that the city was full of idols.” (Acts 17:16)

Paul was so distressed that he wanted to help people get to the root of their problems and misunderstandings.  This is when he addressed them directly, “People of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious.  For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: to an unknown god. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you.” (Acts 17:22-23)

Paul proceeded to inform them of the one true God that they should worship.  He wanted them to no longer be confused or misled.  His message was very straightforward and understandable.

And our message should be the same.  For a lost world to understand the one true God, and how it is to worship him, we can make the message clear.  We have our work cut out for us, but we can’t forget to rely on the power of God to help us every step of the way.

Prayer: Dear Lord, it seems like much of the world does not understand you.  We ask you to use us as a witness for you to bring forth this message, and to always depend on your strength to carry us through.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
