“I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.  You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.  You know what has happened throughout the province of Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached— how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.” (Acts 10:34-38)

     Acts 10 marks a major development in the book of Acts, as God confirms through Peter that Gentiles have the same access as Jews to salvation through Jesus Christ.  As Peter was speaking, Gentiles were listening and responding, “the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles.” (Acts 10:45)

     It doesn’t matter who you are, where you are from, or what you have done.  Salvation through Jesus Christ is open to everyone.  It is up to us to accept this free and precious gift.

Prayer: Dear Lord, as you seek those who still need you, open their eyes to the truth, and help them to make the all-important decision to accept your gift of salvation.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
